Classroom Policies
In our class we treat everyone with kindness and respect. We are a team, and it is important to treat each other as such! Disrespectful and hurtful behavior will absolutely not be tolerated in our classroom. Our room will be a safe and fun learning environment that all students can succeed in.
I am always available to both parents and students via email after school until 8:30pm. Students can email me questions about homework, projects, or general questions and I will get back to them as soon as possible. If a student is struggling with certain material, or needs extra help I am always available after school. Please reach out to me via email to set up an appointment. I am here to make sure you can be the best 8th grade student you can be!
Homework:
Homework will be assigned nightly and is crucial to a student's success in the classroom. Students will be assigned homework Monday-Thursday and occasionally over the weekend. Students are expected to come to school everyday with the completed assignment, and the completion of all weekly homework will be counted as a quiz. If a student cannot complete an assignment they are expected to bring in a signed note from a parent explaining why.
Projects:
Students will have ample time to complete projects and will be aware of the due date weeks in advance. Students will work on projects in class, but anything that is not completed should be done at home. Every day a project is late the student will lose 5 points on the final grade.
Tests:
Students will be informed far in advance before a test. Students should not be preparing for a test the night before, and make sure they give themselves adequate time to study. I will not drop or allow for retakes of low test grades. It is up to the student to make sure they are giving themselves plenty of time to study the material. If a student receives either a D or F on a test they must bring the test home to be signed by a parent or guardian and hand it back to me within two days. Failure to do so will result in a detention.

Absence:
Students are responsible to make up any worked missed in class. On the day the student returns to school they should check the absentee bin for any work they may have missed and complete it on or before Friday of that week. Parents of students that are going to absent for an extended period of time should reach out to me via email at [email protected].
Behavior:
Students are expected to be respectful and courteous in the classroom. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior toward anyone in our room will not be tolerated. If a student has an issue in class they will receive one verbal warning. After that, if a student continues to be disruptive they will be asked to leave and go to the Principal's office and a call will be also be placed home. A student who is asked to leave is still responsible to complete any work they missed during that class period. If an issue arises again the student will receive a detention.
Uniform Violations:
Violations of the school uniform policy will result in a warnings and detentions. School uniforms are to be worn by all students from the first to the last day of school. If for any reason a child cannot be in uniform on a given day, the parent must send a written excuse to the teacher; however, in most cases a warning slip will still be issued. A detention will be incurred for the next infraction of the uniform policy. Leaving a uniform at a friend’s or non-custodial parent’s house or having a uniform in the wash are not acceptable excuses for being out of uniform. Children will be allowed to wear sneakers only on gym days. On all other days, regular, sturdy soft sole school shoes must be worn.
On certain days during the school year, the principal may grant a “free-dress” day. The principal will announce what will be allowed on “free-dress” days. This information will also be placed on our website and/or emailed to parents. If there is any confusion concerning what should be worn of free-dress days, the child should come to school in his/her regular uniform.
